Polish developer CD Projekt Red has announced that the release of the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on December 5, 2023, will be accompanied by the launch of update 2.1.

“On December 5th, the same day Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition hits the shelves, we’ll release a free Update 2.1 introducing new and hotly anticipated gameplay elements,” the studio stated in a social media post.

More information about the contents will be revealed during a livestream scheduled to take place on December 1, 2023, at 4pm CET on the CD Projekt Red Twitch channel. Pawel Sasko, who is the quest director for the game, and producer Monika Janowska will join two of CDPR’s senior community managers to go into the details during the show.

Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 was launched alongside the Phantom Liberty expansion for the game and brought a ton of important changes to the title, but work on such a big game basically never truly ends – there are always adjustments to be made and bugs to be crushed. The latest patch with the version number 2.02 mostly worked on weapon balancing and bug fixing, but also contained some performance optimization measures.

CD Projekt Red’s work on 2.0 and Phantom Liberty earned the title a nomination for the best ongoing game at The Game Awards 2023.

This upcoming release is unlikely to be quite as substantial as update 2.0, but “new and hotly anticipated gameplay elements” sounds pretty big at least.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty are available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
