Dead Island 2: How to get fuses

Fuses unlock doors which hold rare and powerful weapons, here's how to find them

Dead Island 2 has a number of locked doors that require fuses to unlock, behind which there are often rare and useful rewards and weapons. There are dozens of fuse-locked doors scattered throughout each of Dead Island 2’s maps, but the game never tells you how to find fuses to unlock them.

This guide will tell you everything you need to know about how to get fuses in Dead Island 2.

Dead Island 2: How to get fuses

While most items in Dead Island 2 are available through random loot packages throughout the world or dropped from zombies upon death, fuses aren’t so easy to find. You might think that you’re doing something wrong or not looking in the right place, but the truth is you won’t find them just lying about in the world.

Instead, the only way to obtain fuses in Dead Island 2 is to purchase them from a merchant. There are a number of merchants throughout Hell-A, but the earliest available is Carlos in Emma Jaunt’s mansion in Bel-Air. The mansion acts as a base of operations throughout much of the game, and is considered a safe place where no zombies can get to you.

Fuses cost $1500, which is quite a steep price in the early game, but you should probably avoid buying them until you’re a little further in the game. That’s because the rewards are better the later you buy them.

Dead Island 2: Fuse room rewards

Every fuse room is a little bit different, but all of them are packed with useful supplies, resources, and items. In our testing, almost every fuse room has at least one medkit in it, as well as large amounts of crafting resources.

The main reason to unlock a fuse room though is for the weapons crate. These are special crates that drop weapons that are scaled to your level and progress through the game. All weapons crates locked behind fuse doors will drop a weapon at the highest rarity level available at your current point in the story.

Because of this, it’s much better to wait until you’ve unlocked Rare or higher level weapons, as Uncommon rarity weapons tend to be a little bit limited in how far they can take you. Waiting until later in the game to unlock fuse doors also means you should have more money, so the $1500 hit for buying a fuse stings a little bit less.
