As we’re now a month removed from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s release, there’s one question burning a hole in the minds of every fan: when will it connect to Pokémon Home? This is the service that allows players to transfer Pokémon from older games into the current Generation, with the currently active services allowing you to transfer a Pokémon all the way up from the original Game Boy Color editions of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Scarlet and Violet are yet to connect to Home, but it is on the way.

When is Pokemon Home connectivity coming to Scarlet and Violet?

Pokemon Home menu filled with Pokemon

In Pokémon Home, you can store up to 30,000 Pokémon from every game in the franchise.

While no date has been announced, it has been confirmed by The Pokémon Company that Home integration is planned to release for Scarlet and Violet in Spring 2023. This is roughly in line with what has come before when a Pokémon game releases in November.

Here’s a quick look at how long it took previous Switch titles to get Home connectivity:

  • Pokémon Sword and Shield – 89 days
  • Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl – 180 days
  • Pokémon Legends: Arceus – 110 days

In the somewhat likely scenario that Scarlet and Violet get DLC that adds new Pokémon, those DLCs will likely get connectivity with Home the same day, as both of Sword and Shield’s DLCs released alongside an update to Pokémon Home.

This all means it’s going to be a little while yet before you’ll be able to transfer your old Pokémon into the new game, so if you’re looking to complete the Pokédex, you’re going to have to rely on Scarlet and Violet alone for the time being.
