Gary Bowser was sentenced to 40 months in prison for selling and distributing piracy tools linked to a firm known as Team Xecuter. After pleading guilty, he was additionally forced to pay a $4.5m fine, as well as another $10m fine for Nintendo's civil suit.

Due to good behavior, he's recently been released from prison at the SeaTac Federal Detention Center in Washington.

In an interview with podcaster NickMoses 05, Bowser says that Nintendo is able to recoup 25%-30% of his earnings for the rest of his life.

In fact, the Japanese game developer has already started this process, taking £175 from Bowser's prison job earnings during his incarceration.

While working as a "salesman" for the hacker group, Bowser claims he earned $320k over the course of seven years - significantly less than his fines, but the lawsuit took into account damages suffered by Nintendo as a result of the firm's actions.
