Users playing Honkai: Star Rail on Android devices have been reporting issues with the game’s top-up function, meaning their ability to buy in-game currency with real money. HoYoverse has publicly confirmed that it’s aware of these issues, writing: “Due to an issue with the Google Play Store, some Trailblazers have been unable to top up. The development team is now investigating the cause of the problem and working to fix it. Please stay tuned to future official notifications regarding an estimated completion time.”

Apologizing for the inconvenience, the developers stated that they would inform players through in-game notices as well as via announcements on the official community channels “as soon as the issue is fixed.”

Can't purchase any in-game currency? You'll need to stay patient!

This is not the first time a problem with Honkai: Star Rail’s in-game store appeared. When the character Jing Yuan was released back in May 2023, he proved to be so popular in China that players were breaking the top-up function in their bids to fill up their in-game currency reserves.

This time, the problem seems to be a little bit more isolated, only affecting payments made through the Google Play Store.

With Honkai: Star Rail update 1.5 coming out on November 15, 2023, and the preload for that patch already being available, players are looking to secure the services of Topaz, Seele, and Guinaifen from the version 1.4 character banners before they time out. Huohuo heads the first half of the version 1.5 character banners, with Argenti and Hanya joining the fray in the second half.

Things will remain hot for the rest of the year, with Ruan Mei, Dr. Ratio, and Xueyi having been confirmed for version 1.6 alongside the new Pure Fiction game mode.
