The action adventure hit Outer Wilds from 2019 will finally come to Nintendo Switch, fans believe after a reliable leaker provided some hints. The very successful indie game developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive initially came out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and received a next-gen port to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2022.

A Nintendo Switch port had been announced for 2021 during a Nintendo Direct show in February 2021, but was later delayed indefinitely. However, fans now believe that Outer Wilds will come to the Switch after all due to hints provided by a reliable leaker (via ResetEra), who previously got the content of upcoming Nintendo Direct shows right.

“Finally, we will be able to roast some marshmallows on the Switch,” the first hint says. Fans are taking this as a reference to the key art for Outer Worlds, which shows a person sitting in front of a campfire, roasting a marshmallow. Providing a second hint, the leaker pointed fans at the “Feb 2021 Direct,” which is the show during which Outer Wilds was initially announced for the Switch.

Aside from the possibility of the Outer Wilds port not being dead in the water, these leaks could indicate that a new Nintendo Direct show, perhaps focusing on indie games coming to Switch, may not be too far off.

As mentioned, this leaker’s track record is a very strong one, but you should still take this with a grain of salt, as always when it comes to unofficial information like this.

Outer Wilds’ Metacritic score ranges in the mid-eighties, making it a much recommended game across platforms and winning several awards. Critics especially praised the title’s exploration and narrative as its standout features.
