Bandai Namco’s upcoming RPG Sand Land, which is based on a manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama, got an official gameplay trailer showing roughly nine minutes of in-game footage.

Viewers can get a solid taste of what they can expect the title to play like with sections of the video showing off combat, a bit of stealth gameplay in which the main character spooks one unfortunate guard so much that he falls unconscious, and vehicle customization.

Check out the gameplay trailer below:

Akira Toriyama’s art really comes to life in the footage, which also evokes works like Mad Max with its vast desert landscapes and post-apocalyptic vehicles. Speaking of which: Sand Land almost seems like it’s been a mech game in disguise all along. We see tanks, walkers, and hovercraft with all sorts of wacky armaments and upgrades that engage each other in combat.

Main character Beelzebub can also dish out damage up close and personal, though, grabbing enemies and whirling them around himself before unleashing them against their colleagues as an impromptu missile. He can also lift giant rocks and throw them or use his demonic powers, unleashing massive waves of energy in an area around himself.

Add giant monsters, boss battles, and what looks like a housing system and you’ve got a very interesting mix brewing.

Sand Land is set to be released on April 26, 2024, for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
