Firefly Studios has hit many PC players right into their nostalgia nerves with the announcement of a Stronghold Definitive Edition, which is set to be released on November 7, 2023. Stronghold DE has been wishlisted by over 100,000 users on Steam, creating quite a buzz for a remaster.

Wanting to capitalize on this amount of attention with the purpose of gathering feedback from users for the final version of the game, the developer has now launched a free demo of the title, which you can find on the game’s Steam page.

Available until August 29, 2023, this slice of the remastered game contains many of the improvements that players can expect in the release version, such as new cinematic animations, updated art assets, an improved user interface, and better character animations. The scribe, too, has been improved “with twice the approved musky live-riddled peasantry,” according to Firefly.

This demo build is an updated version of the one shared with creators and press upon reveal, already containing learnings taken from that opportunity. Content-wise, the demo has a tutorial as well as the fourth and eleventh mission from the original’s campaign in store.

The developers have released a new video giving an overview of the changes you can expect in the Definitive Edition alongside the demo’s release:

The team hopes that players can provide their feedback about the build after they’ve played a bunch, which in turn will help it in tuning the final release build.
