8 things I wish I knew before starting Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is the latest open-world Ubisoft game, and it takes place in the universe of James Cameron’s Avatar movie series. In this game you take on the role of a young Sarentu Na’vi that was taken from their Na’vi clan at a young age. You’ll escape an RDA facility and reintroduced yourself to the Na’vi tribes of Pandora, but that gets much easier with our tips.
Pandora is a mysterious world, and the game only explain as much as it needs to. In this guide we’re breaking down just a few of the beginner tips we wish we knew before playing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, so you don’t have to make the same mistakes we did.
Get the Ikran early

The flying Ikran mount will make exploring the world of Pandora far easier, and luckily, you can get it quite early by beelining the Main Quest. The Ikran quest is a main quest that you’ll get either in the first few hours of the game, or after a dozen hours, depending on how distracted you get by Side Quests. Just do the Main Quest until you unlock the Ikran, and then go back for those Side Quests you’ve picked up.
Keep on climbing

The Na’vi are shockingly good climbers. Obviously you can hold the jump button to charge up a large jump, but they will also grab and clamber up ledges, meaning you’re far more capable of jumping and climbing than you might think. You should try out a few risky jumps regardless, mainly because…
Fall damage is nothing

Fall damage just isn’t that big of a deal. It exists, but as long as you sneakily fall down a cliff from rock to rock, you can drop a decent distance without ever taking damage. You also won’t take damage as long as you fall into a deep body of water. Basically, you shouldn’t be afraid to take a few risky leaps and drops while exploring Pandora.

You won’t get health recovery items just from resting at a base, you need to go out and collect them from the plants that heal the Na’vi. They usually grow near bodies of water and are found throughout the map, but most importantly, there are several growing very close to the Resistance Base, so you should make sure to stock up every time you swing through.
Sneaking to victory

Attacking RDA bases is a tall order, as you Na’vi doesn’t exactly wear bulletproof armor. The RDA soldiers and mechs sure do, though. If you want to have the advantage when attacking an RDA base, you’ll find things much easier if you sneak your way to victory. For this you should look at improving your Stealth skills, including making less noise when you move, and increasing your crouched speed. This will make navigating bases and silently taking out enemies much easier.
Na’vi are taller than you think

Na’vi are at least twice the size of humans, which means that when you stand up, you’re way more visible than you might realize. Good thing that the vent entrances are the perfect size for you to sneak through, eh? Keep in mind your size when infiltrating RDA bases, as standing up could make you way more visible than you might at first think.
Weakpoints everywhere

Using your Na’vi senses highlights interactable items in the world, but also weakpoints on enemies. This is great for hunting and killing animals with a single strike, but even better for taking out RDA mechs. Human enemies can be taken out in a single arrow or bullet for most of the game, but mechs and helicopters will usually require you to identify and shoot at the weakspots. Top tip: fire arrows into the chopper blades to take them out quickly.
Alt ammo types

Many weapons come with alternative ammo type, and while ammo for these types are more limited, you shouldn’t shy away from using it when infiltrating bases. These are often the toughest locations on the map to be, and certain unlockables are only available after clearing the various bases. This means you’ll often have to make them a priority, and you shouldn’t be afraid to bring out the heavy ammo types and grenades to get them done if the stealthy route doesn’t work out.
