Baldur's Gate 3's patch notes are too long for Steam

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch #1 has over 1,000 fixes, and Steam doesn't have room to display them all

Just three weeks after its official PC launch, and just under two weeks until its PS5 launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 has had its first major patch, and it is absolutely massive. So massive, in fact, that the blog post detailing the patches hit Steam’s text limit, so the only way to view the full Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch #1 patch notes is on Larian’s own website.

It has over 1,000 fixes, many to do with Act 3, which fans have noted is a fair bit buggier than the rest of the game. There are a lot of fixes and tweaks to romances too, both in terms of making animations less glitchy and making the intention of some dialogue options much clearer.

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 1 Halfling kissing Karlach

Most notable is a fix for animations when a short character kisses a tall character. It was common for the characters’ lips to be dramatically misaligned, but short characters should now be able to kiss whoever they like without any problems. Shadowheart’s romance also had a glitch where sometimes one of her scenes in Act 3 never triggered, which has now been fixed.

Gale’s romance has also had a few weeks, mainly making it clearer that certain dialogue options will enter a romance. Many players didn’t realize they’d be locking themselves into a romance with Gale and weren’t happy about it. Also, his spell-teaching scene now has a middle ground between kissing him and kicking him in the head – which is nice.

One of the only things this update doesn’t address is the game’s performance issues, however, the team has promised that Patch #2 is “just around the corner” and will be focused on improving performance.
