As we mentioned in our Diablo 4 review, Diablo 4’s bosses are both challenging and entertaining, being some of the best boss fights the series has ever seen. As the game progresses, you’ll get more comfortable with the mechanics of your class, but bosses will also get much trickier, using gimmicks and vicious attacks to trip you up.

Diablo 4's Act IV will put you up against Andariel, one of the most fearsome bosses you will face in the entire game. Unlike many other bosses in the game, Andariel is one of the bosses that is actually pretty viable for melee players, but playing solo will be a struggle no matter which class you play.

After overcoming Astaroth in Act II and Brol in Act III, you should be more than ready to beat her. If you feel like you're having a hard time beating her, we're here to help. In this guide, you can find everything you need to defeat Andariel in Diablo 4's Act IV.

Make sure you check out our tips and tricks for Diablo 4, as they can help you get through tough boss fights like this one without too much trouble. If you’re thinking of trying again with a different class, you should also take a look at what we think is the best starting class in Diablo 4.

How to beat Andariel - Diablo 4 boss guide

Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish, returns from Diablo 2, and she is as angry and terrifying as ever. No matter if you play ranged or melee, she poses a worthy challenge, and you’ll need to be quick on your feet if you want to take her down. She’s also fought in a very small arena, making the fight all that more difficult.

The Andariel boss fight features the following attacks:

  • Melee attacks
  • Trails of blood and fire
  • Vicious, runic chains

Andariel isn’t big on defense, but she knows how to deal big damage. Your biggest concern here should be avoiding those chains in particular, as she will create very powerful AOE attacks around them. Most of the time, you won't succeed, so you'll have to destroy the chains as soon as possible and prepare to dodge.

Be careful when trying to escape the chains and avoid attacks: going beyond the sandstorm will chip away HP from your health bar, so keep an eye on your surroundings as you move around the arena. If you’re not careful, you’ll find yourself on the verge of death from the environment alone, so keep your wits about you and try to avoid the sandstorm if you can/

Andariel's health bar is split into four different segments, and at the end of each, she'll drop health potions for you to heal. As with every boss, use health potions as often as possible, because she hits very hard.

Her melee attacks can be both horizontal and vertical lashings, so stay on your toes, learn her movements, and dodge as needed. Her trails of blood and fire aren’t too much of a concern, as they’re easily avoided as long as you’re able to keep mobile.

Follow our tips and be patient, and you shouldn't have a particularly hard time beating Andariel.
