Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement: how to find it and farm resources

The Room of Requirement is your main base in Hogwarts Legacy, we'll tell you how to get the most out of it

With so much stuff to do in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll need a place to keep all your resources, as well as a space to call your own. This is where the Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement comes in. Here, you’ll be able to farm resources, grow planets, keep animals, and brew potions among other things, as well as decorate it however you want.

It’s an extremely useful area, especially if you’re trying to complete assignments like obtaining Venemous Tantacula and Fluxweed, so we’ll tell you how to unlock it and what you should do in it.

Where is the Room of Requirement?

No matter how much you pace back and forth in front of the wall, you won’t be able to unlock the Room of Requirement until you reach the right section in the story. This will be shortly after completing the Tomes and Tribulations quest. It’s a main quest, so you won’t be able to miss it.

Professor Weasley will tell you where to go, and then explore the room with you in its “Room of Hidden Things” form. Eventually, you’ll meet Deek the house elf, who helps you turn the room into our personal base.

Once the room is unlocked, you can fast-travel to it at any time. Simply go onto the Hogwarts Map and select the “Secret Rooms” section to find it.

Room of Requirement spells

There are three spells that you can only use in the Room of Requirement, and you’ll need to get anything done.

First is the Conjuring Spell, which will let you place new objects in the room, the Alteration Spell, to change the size and appearance of objects, and Evanesco, which will vanish objects from the room.

Moonstone

Moonstone is a vital resource for setting up your room. Thankfully, you can find it in loads of locations around the game’s vast open world. Whenever you’re exploring keep an eye out for a cluster of crystals sticking out of rocks. Shoot a basic cast at them and you’ll be flooded with Moonstone. Similarly, using the Evanesco on anything in the room will refund you some Moonstone.

Workstations

There are a bunch of different workstations you’ll want to get for your room. You can buy new objects from the Tomes and Scrolls store in Hogsmeade, so check out our guide for how to earn money fast if you need the cash. Here’s everything we recommend you buy as soon as you can.

• Large Planter – Not only will you need these for certain plants, but they give a higher yield than smaller planters.
• Large Potions station – Being able to brew multiple potions at once will save a lot of time.
• Desk of Description – This will let you identify gear for you to equip.
• Enchanted Loom – You can use this to craft gear upgrades from beast materials.
• Material Refiner – Produces ten Moonstone every 10 minutes.
• Hopping Pot – Produces a random potion every 15 minutes.
• Chopping Station – Produces a random plant every 10 minutes
• Dung Composter – Produces Fertilizer every 10 minutes.

Vivarium

The Vivarium will unlock a little later on in the main story, just after you get the ability to rescue beasts. Keeping them in here will let you brush and feed them, which in turn lets you gather their materials, which you’ll need to craft gear upgrades. Everything from Nifflers to Unicorns can be captured and put in your Vivarium, and there are a few handy items you such grab too.

• Beast Feeder – This removes the need for you to manually feed your beasts, as they will go and eat from it whenever they’re hungry.
• Toybox – This will keep our beasts happy, although different beasts prefer different toys.
• Breeding Pen – Does what it says on the tin, this will allow your animals to breed and produce offspring.
