Best Pokémon for Charizard Tera Raid: How to beat the Charizard seven-star Tera Raid event
Following the February Pokémon Presents, the Pokémon Company announced that all three original Kanto starters would be making a comeback in powerful seven-star raids. Charizard with the Dragon-tera type is the final ‘mon in the trio to come to raids and a second chance to catch it since it was first added to the game.
It's worth noting that if you caught a raid Charizard the first time around, you won't be able to catch another one, but the rewards have been improved this time, so it's still worth smashing out a few while you can. Defeating the seven-star Charizard event can reward you with Herba Mystica, which can be used to make sandwiches that boos shiny rates.
If you want the best chance to pick up your own Mighty Charizard in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, here is everything you need to know.
When does the Charizard raid start?
Unlike the usual seven-star raids, which are available across two weekends, the Kanto starter raids, including the Charizard raid, will be available for an entire week. One raid will be available in each game every day, but you can only catch one, and if you caught it in the original run, then you won’t be able to catch it again.
Here is when Charizard raids will be available:
- Tuesday, March 12, 2024 until Tuesday, March 19, 2024
7-Star Tera Raid Charizard stats, moves, and ability – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Charizard is a Special Attacker with a number of powerful Fire-, Dragon-, Flying- and Fighting-type moves. This can deal Super Effective damage to a large number of types and it’s important to have a Fairy-type Pokémon in order to resist its attacks, and hit back with a large amount of damage.
It starts the fight with Overheat and then clears its stat drops. After the barrier goes up it will set up Sunny Day, and just before the end of the raid it will use the powerful Inferno.

Best counters for Charizard – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
The Dragon type is weak to Fairy-, Dragon-, and Ice-type attacks, but due to the attacks that Charizard uses, Fairy-type moves are really the only viable option. You can use either physical or special attackers, and it doesn’t increase its defense, but resisting its attacks is vital.

Azumarill

Azumarill is a staple in raids, and has a great typing and attack for this one. Amnesia and Lightscreen can help protect it so it can Belly Drum to maximize its attack in one turn. You can then deal a huge amount of damage with Play Rough and heal up all of your damage with Shell Bell.

Dachsbun
The Pokémon Company
Dachsbun’s ability, Well-Baked Body, means it boosts defense when hit by Fire-type moves, and it doesn’t take damage from Dragon moves thanks to the Fairy typing. It has a great supportive set, with Howl to boost everyone’s attack, and Snarl and Mud-Slap to reduce Charizard’s attack. The same as Azumarill you can land big Play Roughs to deal damage.

Alcremie

Primarina

Primarina has the same typing as Azumarill but has an advantage as a Special Attacker. With the ability to boost both Special Attack and Defense with Calm Mind, it can negate damage to it and boost damage from it in one move. Life Dew can heal up the whole team, and Moonblast will deal massive damage.
