NetherRealm and WB Games have revealed the dates for its upcoming online stress test for the recently revealed Mortal Kombat 1. The stress test is technically a closed beta — anyone can sign up, but not everyone will get selected to participate.

For those out of the loop, Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the iconic fighting game franchise, and was announced last month. It features a refined combat system, all new looks for all the characters, a new storyline, and more. We saw its gameplay debut last week, and it’s looking very good.

The game is set to be released on September 19, 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC, with special editions granting early access by a few days. Those who sign up for the beta will get to give it a spin even earlier though, with the first round of testing kicking off next week.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Mortal Kombat 1 online stress test.

Mortal Kombat 1: how to join the online stress test

The online stress test is open to players in Europe, North America, Latin America, and Brazil, and only for players on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 — unfortunately nothing for PC or Switch players. To enter, you’ll have to head on over to the WB Games registration page, create or sign into your WB Games account, and enter your details, including which platform you’d like to try it out on.

You can pick both Xbox and PS5 if you want to try your luck, but there’s no guarantee this will increase your chances at all. We’ve also found that players in Australia can enter, but it’s hard to say if this will actually result in access. Only time will tell.

After registering, you’ll be sent an email when the time is right to help you download and access the game during the stress test.
