Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC: How to get Dipplin

This guide will tell you where to catch Applin and where to find its evolution item

Dipplin is one of the new Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s first wave of DLC, The Teal Mask. It’s a new split evolution of Applin, the apple Pokémon, alongside Flapple and Appletun, and like those, is a Grass/Dragon-type Pokémon. It also has a unique ability, Supersweet Syrup, which drops the opponent’s evasiveness when it’s sent into battle.

This guide will show you where to get Applin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, where to get Applin’s evolution items in The Teal Mask, and how to evolve Applin into Dipplin.

How to get Applin – The Teal Mask Pokémon DLC

Applin was actually available in the base Scarlet and Violet game, although it was difficult to find sometimes. Applin is usually found in trees in wooded areas like the Tagtree Thicket in Scarlet and Violet, where you’ll have to target the Pokémon or run into the tree to engage a battle, but finding it in The Teal Mask is actually even easier.

Applin can be encountered in Apple Hills in Kitakami.

To the west of Mossui Town in Kitakami is an area called Apple Hills, just south of Loyalty Plaza. Here, you’ll find a large apple orchard filled with apple trees, and that’s where Applin tend to hang out. We’ve found that the best way to encounter an Applin is to hop onto your Koraidon or Miraidon and run through the apple trees, as your height while riding is high enough to initiate an encounter in the relatively low branches of the apple trees. There’s also a frequent static encounter in the form of a wild Tera Applin in Apple Hills — ours had a Bug Tera type.

How to evolve Applin into Dipplin – The Teal Mask Pokémon DLC

Once you’ve got an Applin, all you need to do to evolve it is get your hands on a Syrupy Apple. Like Flapple and Appletun, Applin evolves into Dipplin when you give it one of these apples. Thankfully, Syrupy Apples are very easy to obtain, unlike other apple items which can only be found on the ground or at auction.

A helpful apple stand in the south-east of Kitakami is where you can find Syrupy Apples.

In the furthest south-east of Kitakami is a location called Mossfell Confluence, and in that location you’ll find a small apple shop. Simply walk up to the shop, and you’ll be able to buy as many Syrupy Apples as you like for 500 dollars a pop. Use the Syrupy Apple on your Applin, and it will evolve into Dipplin.
