Sons of the Forest Hang Glider location: how to find the fastest way to travel
Sons of the Forest is the latest survival game to rock Steam’s charts, and a brand new update has introduced by far the best way to travel: the hang glider. The hang glider speeds across the island and allows you to get pretty much anywhere, very quickly. You’ll easily be able to get to caves and locate binoculars with this at your back.
It’s a bit awkward to carry around, but it’s well worth holding onto. In this guide we’re breaking down where you can find the Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest.

1 is the Mountain spawn point, 2 is the Hang Glider location.
In our map above, you can see both the Mountain starting location, marked with a 1, and the Hang Glider location, marked with a 2. As you can see, it’s much easier to access the Hang Glider, and it can be reached earlier, if you start at the Mountain spawn location. If you’re starting up a new save in hopes of using the Hang Glider to progress quickly, the Mountain is the best spawn point for you.
The Hang Glider is just sitting on the edge of a cliff, ready to be used.
It’ll be difficult to approach the Hang Glider location from the North, though, and you might either need to spend some time crawling up some steep slopes, or go around to the South of the Hang Glider in order to find an easy way to climb the mountain.
How to use the Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest
Keep the dot inside the circle to stay level.
Once you have the Hang Glider you can equip it by pressing E, and using it is as simple as jumping from a high ledge. Once you get some air the Hang Glider will keep you afloat. You can look around and move the camera freely, but using the movement keys will change your pitch and yaw.
Make sure to slow down to land safely.
In simple terms, if you press forward you will aim down, picking up speed, and if you press down, you will aim up, reducing your speed – necessary for a safe landing. On the handlebar of the Hang Glider you will see a green dot and a circle: if the dot is within the circle, then your Hang Glider is level and will stay at a reasonable speed and the same elevation.
How to keep your Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest
Take the Hang Glider home with you.
Unfortunately you aren’t able to pack the Hang Glider away into your backpack, but it also does not despawn or respawn. Likewise, it does not break, so that’s good. Once you get the Hang Glider, holding onto it is a case of taking it with you. Bring it back to your base and maybe don’t fly away with it unless you’re confident you can bring it back, or have another safe space that you can leave it.
