How long does it take to beat Super Mario RPG?

This guide will tell you how long it takes to beat the Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario RPG and its post-game content

Super Mario RPG is out now for the Nintendo Switch, with the classic SNES game having been lovingly remade and reimagined for modern hardware and audiences. As part of the modernization of Super Mario RPG, the game actually became a lot quicker by cutting down load items and speeding up random battles. Because of this, the remake is a fair bit shorter than the original, though it makes up for it with post-game content.

For everything you need to know about how long it’ll take to complete Super Mario RPG, just take a look through our guide info below.

How long to beat Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG is a few hours shorter than the original game on the SNES, thanks to its faster (and easier) combat, quicker transitions, and more. The amount of time it takes will also depend on what difficulty setting you’re playing on.

Super Mario RPG takes about 12 hours to finish on normal difficulty, and 10-12 hours on breezy difficulty.

That said, if you want to finish everything the game has to offer, you’ll have to clear out all the post-game content, too, which can take up to another 4-6 hours, depending on your levels and the difficulty setting.

Super Mario RPG post-game content

Unlike the original Super Mario RPG on the SNES, the Switch remake includes a few different post-game activities that will keep you entertained and challenged for a few hours more after the credits roll.

There are boss rematches to take on for most bosses in the game, as well as a few extra bosses, like Jinx and Culex — both of whom can be challenged during the main game, but will likely be far too difficult to take down until the very end of the game or post-game. There’s also a post-game rematch with Culex which is pretty impressive… but we won’t spoil that here.
