At the State of Play tonight we got new trailers for two highly-anticipated games, along with confirmation that they’re both coming out this year – in the same week, no less.

Alan Wake 2’s trailer showed off our main character, teasing a second playable character to boot, plus a strange twisted figure who looked remarkably like Keanu Revees. Developers Remedy have said that this shifts the story all the way into survival horror, and the creepy narration over this trailer suggests some psychological horror may be on the cards as well.

Alan Wake 2 releases for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 17, 2023. Watch the trailer here:

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage seems to fulfill its promise to take the series back to the classic games of the series. It heavily invokes Assassin’s Creed 1 visually, and what small glimpses we got at gameplay seem to have scaled things down too. If you haven’t been a fan of the massive RPGs in the more recent years of the series, this may be the game for you.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage releases for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on October 12, 2023. Watch the trailer here:
