Ubisoft’s upcoming mobile game, codenamed Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade, has finally gotten a release date for its closed beta. The game was first teased in an Ubisoft Forward showcase in September 2022, before being revealed in full earlier this year, during the company’s not-E3 Ubisoft Forward presentation in June.

For those out of the loop, Codename Jade is an upcoming mobile game said to bring all the fun and most of the mechanics of an Assassin’s Creed to mobile, adapted to be a little more touch screen friendly. The game is set in China in the second century BC, over 2000 years ago, and follows the disciple of legendary Assassin master Wei Yu.

The closed beta for the game is set to run from August 3 to August 11, 2023, and players have until July 27 to sign up at the official Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade page. Between July 27 and July 31, invite emails will go out to just 5000 players, and those selected few will be able to predownload the game from August 1.

There are a few caveats, though. While anybody in the world is able to sign up for the beta, servers will only be active for North America and Western Europe, meaning players outside of those regions may experience latency issues. It will also only be available in English, with no other languages available for either text or voiceover.

The beta is open to players on both iOS and Android, with iPhone players needing an iPhone 11 or above, and Android players needing at least Android 10 and a Snapdragon 865. For reference, that means if you’re using a Samsung device, it’ll need to be the Samsung Galaxy S20 line or newer. A full list of compatible devices is available on the official website.

There’s no official release date for Codename Jade yet, but Assassin’s Creed fans won’t have to wait too long to get a taste of the action. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 12, 2023 — and while it won’t receive any post-launch DLC, it will at least support a very neat haptic vest so you can really feel when you get walloped in the chest with a mace.
