Baldur’s Gate 3 special leave request is actually getting approved

Sometimes all you have to do is ask

Happy Baldur’s Day, everyone! That’s right, Baldur’s Gate 3 launches later today – and early tomorrow in some places around the world – and that’s an occasion to be celebrated. That’s why developer Larian Studios has provided a template for a “Request for Special Leave Baldur’s Day Dispensation” on its website, which players can fill out and send to their bosses for approval in the hopes of getting the day off.

You might say that this is simply a silly marketing stunt and that this would never actually work, right?

Well, sometimes all you have to do is ask. Aarik Dorobiala, a senior community manager at Obsidian Entertainment, filled out the template and filed it with his supervisor Mikey Dowling, who promptly approved the request and stated that he’d have his stamp “ready and waiting” for further requests.

Obsidian, of course, is itself known for making epic RPGs such as The Outer Worlds, Pillars of Eternity, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, so it’s no wonder that the studio can appreciate the massive importance of Baldur’s Day for Larian and the world.

Anyone can download and file the request thanks to Larian's template.

Larian better approve similar leave requests for the release of The Outer Worlds 2 in the future.

Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on August 3, 2023, on PC and will launch on PS5 on September 6, 2023. The Xbox Series X|S version is still in development.
