His Majesty in Baldur's Gate 3 has been restored to his bald glory

Baldur's Gate 3 developers have walked back its "fix" that gave Last Light Inn's cat hair

Baldur’s Gate 3 players have strange priorities, as it seems the most heavily requested feature for the game’s latest hotfix was “shave the cat”.

If you ever visited the Last Light Inn in Baldur’s Gate 3 you’ve likely met His Majesty, the cat that roams the area. This cat was originally implemented as a Sphynx cat – a famously hairless breed of cat.

However, Larian Studios revealed in a recent patch that His Majesty’s appearance is actually a glitch, and he used the exact same model as another cat in the game, Steelclaw. His Majesty’s originally intended fur-covered model was implemented, but it caused outrage across the fanbase.

Fans had become attached to the bald beauty of His Majesty and were furious that his body had been tainted with fur. Larian – ever the studio to listen to their players – bowed to the pressure and decided to get out the clippers and shave His Majesty back to his formerly bald state.

Instead, it’s Steeclaw who has had their appearance altered, with his eye color shifted so the two cats can be told apart – there has been no outcry over this, so it’s pretty clear who the favorite cat is in the BG3 community.
