Here’s your exotic news surprise for the day: Activision is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Call of Duty by partnering up with Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux (PAMP) to release a series of limited edition gold and silver bars featuring franchise icon Captain Price.

Fans can already pre-order both the 5g gold bar and 1oz silver bar with the official launch of the product happening on February 15, 2024. PAMP has produced 5,000 pieces of the gold bar and 15,000 pieces of the silver bar, costing $449.95 USD and $109.95 USD respectively.

Captain Price has become CoD's mascot and now he's on a gold bar.

Each gold bar has dimensions of 13.1x22.1mm, making them a good bit smaller than the silver pieces at 27x47mm.

Each bar comes with a wearable pendant frame owners can use to show the precious metal off in real life, but also features a code players can redeem via the in-game store. This will provide them with a digital version of the gold or silver bar they bought and can be used to decorate their weapons.

Chris Carkner, Global Head of Minting at MKS PAMP, commented: “Developing a Call of Duty collection with our signature, industry-trusted techniques and know-how allowed us to focus on innovative ways to bring our pioneering brand to a new audience. Bridging physical and digital collectibles is an exciting first in the brand's history and speaks to our forward-thinking credentials.”

No banana for scale, but this image should nevertheless clarify the size of the gold bars.

As far as anniversary merchandise goes, this may be pretty expensive, but you can never go wrong with putting your money into gold – in any case, it’s a lot better than NFTs, eh?

You can find a list of retailers selling the limited edition items on the official website.
