Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 unlock time and details of Warzone Caldera’s future revealed

We now know exactly when Warzone 2.0 is coming live

Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 is just around the corner and Activision has announced the release times for the new free-to-play Battle Royale game. Warzone 2.0 will drop at 10 a.m PT / 1 p.m. ET on November 16, 2022, as part of Modern Warfare II’s Season 01 update.

The Battle Royale game brings a new map called Al Mazrah and a slew of gameplay changes. Activision also revealed details about the future of the current map, Caldera, once Warzone 2.0 is live.

At around 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET on November 16, Call of Duty: Warzone servers will temporarily go offline as Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 5 comes to an end. Then, about two hours later, Season 01 of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 will go live.

You might be wondering when you can download 2.0. Players on all platforms will be able to preload Warzone 2.0 and MWII’s first season update, starting on November 14 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.

Areas of the new Al Mazrah map are already playable in MWII, as some multiplayer maps like Al Bagra Fortress, Zarqwa Hydroelectric, Sariff Bay and more are actually parts of the new Battle Royale experience.

Custom loadouts are returning in 2.0 and there will be more AI combatants guarding specific strongholds with valuable loot. Another big new feature is Circle Collapse, which introduces up to three separate safe zones on the map that eventually converge into one endgame battleground.

Apart from the new map, Warzone 2.0 is bringing a revamped DMZ extraction mode á la Escape from Tarkov. It’s an open-world narrative-based mode where Operator squads can complete faction-based missions, take on additional side objectives, engage with enemy Operators or AI combatants, and search for valuable items.

The good news is that Warzone Caldera is staying after the launch of 2.0. The current map will be available right until the two-hour intermission that will bring Warzone 2.0 live. Once the new game is stable and following a short development break for Thanksgiving, Warzone Caldera will be relaunched as a separate game. This is expected to happen on November 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.
