Update (Feb. 24, 2023): Fixes for the Call of Duty server problems and level resets have been applied. Ranked mode has been repaired as well. As an pology for the issues the developers have added time to the ongoing double XP weekend.

Update (Feb. 23, 2023): Call of Duty's developers have been made aware of the server issues plaguing the game right now, including the level resets. In a statement made on social media they said that they're working on a fix.

Original (Feb. 23, 2024): It looks like the Call of Duty servers are having trouble at the moment, with players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone reporting widespread issues. Users can still log into the game, albeit slowly, but find themselves demoted back to Level 1, as if they hadn’t played a single game of the first-person shooter yet. This level reset touches both the player and weapon levels.

Equipped emblems and so on have been reset, just like all event progress has been lost. The battle pass tab, too, seems to be broken. All in all: Nothing looks to be working as it should. There is some good news, though: If you want to play the game despite these shenanigans, you can – matchmaking still seems to be functioning as normal, moving players into lobbies.

Forget all your cool gear. You're back to Level 1.

Forget all your cool gear. You're back to Level 1.

At the time of writing, the developers have not issued a statement or a public acknowledgement of the problems, though it’s still a little early in the day for them.

On February 22, 2024, a new playlist was released in Warzone, while the anti-cheat team has deployed an update to counter certain types of cheats such as super speed. It’s possible that some of these measures have broken something in the backend, but in that case the issues would have likely started much earlier.

For now, all players can do is remain patient and wait for the developers to get a grip on the situation. We expect the official support account on social media to update players soon.
