Retro football sim Legend Bowl, which is available on PC and currently sitting on “very positive” reviews on Steam, is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2023. Top Hat Studios is porting the title from indie developer Super Pixel Games to the additional platforms, broadly expanding Legend Bowl’s availability.

Legend Bowl is a take on classics like Tecmo Bowl and Retro Bowl, combining a retro pixel-art style with in-depth mechanics and lots of love for detail to create an engaging gridiron simulation. Franchise mode allows you to choose or create your own coach and then lead one of 32 unique teams through a full 17-week season including the complete off-season with retirements, a draft, and more. From building and maintaining stadium facilities to making sure your players are confident, all the management aspects of a football franchise are on your plate. You can even customize all of your players to your liking, making the perfect dream team to control on the field.

For more fast-paced action, you can play the Exhibition mode with up to three other players locally, facing your friends or playing a match against the CPU. You could even watch CPU’s matched up against each other, in case you’re in the mood for some tactical scouting. Bracket tournaments for up to 16 teams are possible as well, giving you a different competitive format to play with.

On the field, the developers promise realistic kicks, fumbles, and interceptions as well as an impactful weight and momentum system that generates impressive tackles. The weather plays a role as well, altering the conditions on the field – Legend Bowl may not look like a realistic sim, but definitely has enough tech under the hood to provide exactly that experience.
