Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus feature to be added in future update
It’s launch day for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in most regions of the world, which means many a PS5 will run hot tonight as players web and swing their way through New York City in their Spider-Man suits. Insomniac Games recommended downloading the Day 1 patch to all players already, even though Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be playable from the disc completely, as it improves the initial sequence of the game and comes with some additional accessibility options to boot.
Plans for further updates have already been drawn up, according to the studio’s communications and marketing director, James Stevenson. Asked by fans whether a New Game Plus mode and a mission replay feature would be in the game at launch, Stevenson said that neither would be available in the release version. “We’re working on an update for those features, but they won’t be in Day 1,” he confirmed.

Confronted by a fan about why some of these features were missing when previous titles had them at launch, he responded: “Because game development isn’t simple, nor easy.” Fact.
Critic impressions of the game have been fantastic throughout the board with our own Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 review stating: “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won’t do anything that blows you away, but it doesn’t matter when a game plays, looks, and sounds as good as this. It’s an improvement over the first game and proves how polished and slick a sequel can be when the developer is free to revisit and refine on top of solid foundations.”
Aside from supporting the game post launch, Insomniac Games has another big superhero project on its agenda – a game focusing on Wolverine.
