The Pokémon Company has revealed the real release date for the upcoming Pokémon Home update following an unfortunate misfire last week. The update is said to add support for transferring Pokémon in and out of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which has been in the works since those games launched in November last year.

Last week, the official Pokémon Twitter account posted a tweet claiming that version 3.0.0 of Pokémon Home would be coming soon, on May 24, 2023. Notably, the Japanese Pokémon Twitter mentioned no such date, simply saying the update would be coming soon.

That caused a bit of an issue later, when the English-language account had to announce it had messed up, and that the Scarlet and Violet Home update was delayed. It seems like the English side of the company didn’t speak to the Japanese side, and accidentally gave the wrong date. Oops.

Now, a real date has been given for the Pokémon Home update adding support for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Pokémon Home version 3.0.0 will start becoming available from May 30, 2023, and once maintenance has been completed for the update, players will then be able to transfer Pokémon from Scarlet and Violet to Home and vice versa.

It might take a little while for some players, however. The Pokémon Company will be staggering the release of the update to players over two days, in order to help reduce server load. Previous updates for Pokémon Home have overloaded the servers, as with the update that added support for Pokémon Sword and Shield, and for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

According to a notice within the Pokémon Home app, maintenance for the update may last until 6am UTC on May 31, 2023, up to 24 hours after the first players will start getting access. Hopefully the staggered release will keep the servers healthy and happy, as many players have been anticipating this update for a long time.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet got their own update earlier this week, addressing a bug that affected official competitions and forced a repeat of qualifying events for the upcoming World Championships.
