Pokémon Legends: Z-A announced for 2025

Pokémon Legends: Z-A has been announced at today's Pokémon Presents, teasing a return to Kalos and Mega-Evolution

In what has become an annual Pokémon Day tradition, the latest Pokémon Presents stream has aired, giving us updates on all the franchise’s live service titles, and teasing a brand new main series title for 2025.

This time it’s Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and there is already tonnes of speculation as to what could be in store for this new game.

While Pokémon Legends: Arceus sent us back in time in the Pokémon world, to a period where relationships between humans and Pokémon were only just starting to be explored, the teaser trailer shown was more futuristic in tone, perhaps suggesting we’ll be going to a whole new time period this time around.

What we do know is that it will be set in the Kalos region, with everything centering around Lumiose City. This comes with the tease at the end of the trailer that Mega-Evolutions are returning to the series, one that will no doubt thrill fans, as many were disappointed they were dropped past Generation 6.

Then, there’s the title Z-A, which naturally hints that Zygarde will be the star of the show like Arceus was before. The fabled “Pokémon Z” game never came to be in Generation 6, and it meant all of the lore surrounding Zygarde was never featured, as its 100% form was only crowbarred into the Generation 7 games years later.

Either way, the Pokémon Legends gameplay was widely praised when the game was released, and it’ll be an exciting build-up to the 2025 launch as we see how it develops in this sequel.
