Stronghold, originally released in 2001, is getting a Definitive Edition with refreshed graphics, lots of new features, and even a bunch of additional single-player campaign content. Firefly Studios has set the release date to be November 7, 2023, which is when the classic RTS returns on PC.

Stronghold is set in medieval Europe and allows players to build up magnificent castles, as well as to besiege and defend them. As was the case with real history, constructing such a fortress required massive amounts of resources, so building up a strong economy is a priority as well.

Alongside the original campaigns with 26 missions, the Definitive Edition contains a new story with 14 additional missions players can challenge themselves with. There will be ten brand-new scenarios to play through as well – these are instant-action challenges based on historical sieges that allow players to be the defenders or attackers.

Stronghold: Definitive Edition comes with full support for multiplayer gameplay through Steam, Steam Workshop integration, a remastered soundtrack, and many quality-of-life improvements bringing it up to a modern standard.
