Riot Games’ John Goscicki has confirmed the studio’s plans for three new Valorant characters to be released in 2023, announcing a new Initiator, a new Sentinel, and a third not yet described agent.

Goscicki, who is the character producer on Valorant, said: “Soon, Agent 22 will be joining the fight, bringing their own eclectic way to deal with situations, new ways to check corners, get onto locations, plant the Spike.”

So far we’ve only seen this agent’s legs, which doesn’t tell us all too much about them, but it seems like this will be the announced Initiator character.

The vagueness about the third character to join the roster in the ongoing year may simply have to do with the fact that the plans surrounding it are not yet set in stone, but that didn’t stop the community from jumping the gun and starting to speculate about a possible new character role being added to the game.

In addition to the three characters, Riot Games plans to add two game modes to the hero shooter this year, Team Deathmatch and Premier – the latter is an in-game tournament mode.

Valorant launched Episode 6 Act 1 in January 2023, which contained a new competitive map, brought back the classic Split map and added a fresh mode to the game permanently. Act 2 of Episode 6 is likely coming out in March 2023 and should bring the addition of Agent 22.
