War Thunder player leaks restricted Typhoon manuals on the forum

Reset the clock, it’s happened again

Here we go again: Moderators of the War Thunder forum had to delete the post of a user, who uploaded the flight manual of the Eurofighter Typhoon DA7, which is an Italian-built test plane constructed during the development phase of the aircraft. The Eurofighter Typhoon is actively used by several European and Middle Eastern countries today, but the DA7 isn’t available as a playable plane in the game at the moment, which is what the forum thread was arguing for.

“This is a 730-page manual for the DA7 that contains EVERYTHING on all the systems, weaponry, flight data, etc.,” the user in question’s supportive answer to the original post read before deletion. “I hope this data will help the devs to add this magnificent jet faster and make it as accurate as possible! Can’t wait to fly it in the game.”

The manual uploaded by the War Thunder player has a restricted status, so it’s not supposed to be distributed online in any way whatsoever – something the user apparently didn’t know about, since they themselves found it online. That, of course, doesn’t make it okay to just share it with others. At least the motivation behind the post wasn’t to win an argument this time around.

This is not a Eurofighter Typhoon, but a Swedish plane of which no manuals have leaked so far.

War Thunder’s moderation team reacted very quickly, deleting the post and reminding users not to post classified or restricted military documents – or links to sites where such intel can be purchased, as happened in the very same thread after the original manual upload was deleted. They do actually have a sticky thread with this reminder, which is pretty funny in and of itself and is a testament to how many times something like this has already happened.

Earlier this year, restricted F-16 details were posted on the forum, which followed leaks on the British Challenger 2 main battle tank, the French Leclerc main battle tank, the European Tiger attack helicopter, and Chinese DTC10-125 anti-armor shells.

War Thunder is a free-to-play game available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The community, as visible from the number of similar incidents in the past, is quite dedicated to providing developer Gaijin with the most accurate source material possible, for better or worse.
