Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s Patch #4 tackles loot and performance issues

Massive update for Fatshark’s co-op shooter

When Warhammer 40,000: Darktide was released in 2022, its gameplay was simply amazing: cleaving through and shooting up hordes of Nurgle’s diseased followers felt superb. Everything around this brilliant gameplay core, though, dragged it down hard. Crashes and other technical issues were abound, some systems were missing entirely, and others – like the gear and loot system – were just not good at all.

Developer Fatshark has listened, though. They delayed the game’s Xbox Series X|S release to focus on fixing all the issues players have with the co-op shooter, and Patch #4 – dubbed Blessings of the Omnissiah – does a lot to steer things into the right direction.

It’s a massive update, containing tons of adjustments and changes to hitherto flawed systems, delivering technical improvements, and making lots of balance changes. At the same time, this kind of empathizes how lacking the game was at launch outside of its core gameplay.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is slowly on its way to recovery.

Players can now save up to five loadouts as Wargear Sets, switching quickly between them. The Armoury Exchange allows players to purchase specific weapons whenever they desire, as long as they’ve unlocked them through leveling up. Weekly contracts from Sire Melk’s Requisitorium will be easier to complete thanks to lowered requirements.

The Shrine of the Omnissiah has had some cost adjustments for modifying weapons and players may also sacrifice a weapon to gain a Blessing, which can then be used on a weapon of a similar type – and across characters. Changing Blessings is also possible now.

Overall, the update increases the amount of resources players can gain by completing missions, including gear drops. Every completed mission now guarantees a drop, which has a better shot at being of higher rarity the more difficult the mission was and the more conditions it contained.
