5 things we want from F1 24 – and why we need a major Career Mode overhaul
The long-awaited F1 24 announcement has finally landed. The game is launching May 31, and we've already talked you through how to play F1 24 early.
We've only had a few glimpses as to what we can expect from the new game in the EA Sports and Codemasters motorsport series. The full reveal won't be coming until April, and that's when the team will share all the info we need to know about the 2024 edition.
As details are still a bit sparse, we've put together a list of things we want from F1 24. Most of them are realistic, and based on F1 23's feedback. Some are minor ones, and we know they'll never happen. But a Formula 1 fan can dream, right?
New Career Mode - F1 24
No Braking Point in F1 24 means we should expect more from the promised Career Mode overhaul.

EA Sports and Codemasters made it very clear. F1 24 is featuring an "overhauled Career Mode." We don't know precisely what this means, but that overhaul better be pretty massive. F1 23 had in fact thrown our beloved Career Mode in the bin, after the series introduced co-op in 2022. And that was because of F1 World and the Braking Point story mode. With the latter skipping this year's edition, we now expect something incredibly strong for Career Mode, whatever that is...
New driving system - F1 24
The EA Sports Dynamic Handling System promises a more authentic experience.

Codemasters' simul-arcade driving model doesn't need any major shake-up. It's proved successful pretty much everywhere it's been applied, from Formula 1 to WRC rallying. We’re hoping the fabled "EA Sports Dynamic Handling System" is more than just a gimmick. Speaking of which: can you fix that rear end spinning out in the middle of turns, pretty please?
Ahead of the curve - F1 24
Codemasters are great at keeping the F1 games up to speed with the sport.

Last year, Codemasters was incredibly good at spotting what was about to happen in the world of Formula 1. Based on pre-season testing, the team was able to predict that Aston Martin would be the second force in the championship for a long time. They even included that in the pre-release demo we played months before the official launch. This year, pre-season testing hasn't revealed any big change on the grid. But hey, maybe the team has picked up on something anyway? It'd be nice if we found out.
Less confusing F1 World - F1 24
A more streamlined F1 World mode would be a welcome improvement.

F1 World was a surprising addition to F1 23. Initially, it was believed to be a basic hub for all of the game's various modes. Instead, we ended up with a sumptuous live service mode for both solo and multiplayer sessions. One of F1 World's biggest issues? It came with too many redundant currencies, items, and menus, which made it a little confusing. Maybe condense it down a bit for the new game, eh?
Classic cars - F1 24
F1 2019 was the last game to feature classic cars. It's time to bring them back.

Hamilton joining Ferrari and Horner-gate aside, 2024 is not shaping up to be a particularly exciting season. Max Verstappen is likely to win the world championship again. No new tracks have been introduced (nor have the old ones undergone any changes), and the cars have stayed the same. That's why Codemasters should bring some classic cars back, such as Senna's McLaren or Schumacher's Ferrari. They've been missing since F1 2019, and there's never been a better time for them to do it again.
