One of the big selling points for Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been its scaled-back approach. Rather than giving us a sprawling RPG like many of the more recent Assassin’s Creed titles, Mirage gives us a smaller world and stripped-back gameplay. You can see what we thought of that in our Assassin’s Creed Mirage review, but part of this approach has been a significantly smaller game map.

While the city of Baghdad features plenty of open wilderness around it, it’s still the smallest open-world map the series has seen in a long time, and we’ll break down the exact size that you can explore.

Assassin's Creed Mirage's Baghdad

Including the Wilderness and all of the playable area, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is approximately 13 square kilometers or 5 square miles. This makes Mirage’s map still bigger than any Assassin’s Creed game before Origins, although the majority of the wilderness area doesn’t have much worth exploring in it.

If you instead only measure the actual city of Baghdad – which is where you’ll spend the majority of your playtime – that area is approximately 2.3 square kilometers or 0.88 square miles. This is around the same size as Paris from Assassin’s Creed Unity, so it better aligns with previous games in the series.
