Baldur's Gate 3: Riddle of the Night solution in BG3

How to solve the Riddle of the Night in the Silent Library in Baldur's Gate 3

Once you’ve completed the three trials in the Gauntlet of Shar, you’ll come across the Silent Library which, as the name suggests, is a library with a Silence effect cast over it. You’ll be attacked by a small horde of justiciars when you enter, but once they’re disposed of, you can find the Riddle of the Night.

This riddle hides a key item for the story, so you definitely don’t want to miss solving it. We’ll give you the Riddle of the Night solution so you can get a powerful new weapon.

BG3 Silent Library bookcase

Unlock the gate and interact with the main platform. You’ll be posed the question “What can silence the Nightsong?” and presented with an item slot. In short, the answer is a book titled ‘Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger’, as only The Nightsinger herself (Shar) can silence the Nightsong.

This book is one of the shelves out in the library. Specifically the second shelf from the entrance on the right-hand side. Be careful though, as the shelf is trapped, so you’ll need to either disarm it or take a hit of damage.

Just slot the book into the podium and the back wall will slide open, giving you the Spear of the Night, which will be important a little later down the line.
