Palworld is that game you’ve seen in memes and trailers. It’s an open-world survival and crafting game, only filled with adorable monsters that you can capture, raise, breed, or sacrifice and enslave, if that’s more your thing. It’s purposely shocking, allowing you to butcher adorable creatures that purposely evoke the Digimon and Pokémon you beloved in your childhood.

But also? It’s pretty fun, actually. But I’m not here to convince you, I’m just here to give you the essential info you need to get everything done, and in this guide we’re breaking down how to get a Pal you can mount up and ride in Palworld.

The world of Palpagos has over 100 creatures for you to capture, and a bunch of them have unique uses, including being rideable, as long as you fulfil a small handful of requirements. For everything you need to get your first mount in Palworld, just read through our guide below.

How to ride a Pal mount in Palworld

Rushoar is the earliest possible rideable pal.

Rushoar is the earliest possible rideable pal.

In order to mount up and ride a pal through the world, you’ll first need an eligible pal, and next you’ll require the correct Pal Gear to make it work.

For example, you can ride Melpaca, but you’ll first need to craft the Melpaca Saddle, which is Pal Gear. This applies to every pal that can be mounted.

You do not need to equip any Pal Gear – all you need is to have acquired the item, and have the associated Pal in your party. Let them out of their Pal Sphere, and then hold the Ride button shown at the bottom of the screen to hop on. Certain pals even have attacks and abilities you can use while mounted.

How to craft Pal Gear and the Pal Gear Workbench in Palworld

The Pal Gear Workbench is necessary for all Pal Gear items.

The Pal Gear Workbench is necessary for all Pal Gear items.

In order to craft Pal Gear you’ll need the Pal Gear Workbench – this can be found on the sixth tier of the Technology skill tree – all you need to craft it is Paldium Fragments, Wood, and Cloth.

Once crafted, you’ll also need to unlock the recipe for the Pal Gear you want from the Technology tree. The earliest saddle you can unlock is Rushoar’s Saddle in Tier 6 along with the Pal Gear Workbench, and Melpaca’s is on Tier 7. Remember to keep extra Ingots, Paldium Fragments, and other materials spare to craft these Pal Gear items.
