The PS5 has a unique quirk: we all know that there’s an M.2 SSD storage bay inside the PS5 for upgrading the console’s internal storage, but changing an existing M.2 SSD to a new one can cause issues. Namely, that issue is error code CE-107880-4.

Error code CE-107880-4 can occur when attempting to download a game or DLC on your PS5 after changing your M.2 SSD. We’re not entirely sure why this error occurs, but it seems to be typical when people change their PS5 SSD, and because we’ve done it ourselves, we know exactly how to solve the issue so you can fill up that hard drive with your game library as soon as possible.

How to fix error code CE-107880-4 to download PS5 DLC

This issue can happen after installed a new PS5 M.2 SSD.

In case you haven’t noticed already: this error code should only happen when attempting to download game DLC. If you download the base game and ignore any suggested DLC, it should download perfectly fine. As soon as you attempt to add DLC content to the download list, you’ll encounter the error code.

Solution suggestions online range from restarting your console, to restoring your licenses, formatting your console, deleting your cache, etc. All of this is unnecessary though. Simply wait between ten to 24 hours, and your console will be able to download DLC again.

It really is this simple. Give the console some time while turned off, and eventually it’ll just download DLC again normally. If you’ve already downloaded the main game and now want to add the DLC, follow our instructions below.

How to download DLC and manage DLC content on PS5

Press Options when hovering over a game, and select Manage Game Content.

If you already have the main game downloaded, you can manage DLC from the home screen. On your PS5 home screen, hover over a game and press the Options button. From here, select Manage Game Content.

If you have DLC content on your account attached to that game, you will be able to view it here and download anything not currently installed. If you have multiple PS5 accounts, make sure to log into the correct one when downloading the corresponding DLC.
