PSA: Starfield's Photo Mode has a hidden feature

Make sure you take lots of photos in Starfield

Starfield has a built-in Photo Mode that you can access by bringing up the scanner with LB before clicking R3. This allows you to take the camera wherever you want so you can snap images of space, planets, people, and more.

But there’s actually a hidden benefit to doing this. In a lovely touch, any pictures you take with Photo Mode in Starfield are used to populate your loading screens.

While Starfield’s loading times are mercifully short thanks to the Xbox Series’ SSD, there’s still one for almost every door you enter and every location you land on, which means you’ll spend a fair amount of time staring at them.

Taking loads of lovely snaps means you get to look back on your journey and reflect on where your adventure has taken you so far. Or, you know, you could just get really weird with it. We’re not here to judge you.

The game doesn’t tell you that it will do this so consider this your PSA. Do try not to take any rubbish photos now.
