Advance Wars’ long-awaited remake, Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp, will finally release on Nintendo Switch this April 21, 2023.

This follows a delay that lasted more than a year following last year’s invasion of Ukraine. At the time, it seems that Nintendo executives decided that releasing a game with tanks was in bad taste. Despite that, we still got an annual Call of Duty game, though.

Advance Wars is a beloved series dating back the Famicom in Japan, and is one of Nintendo’s strongest tactical RPGs next to Fire Emblem. Advance Wars was just as good back in the day, and Reboot Camp is looking to prove it.

Many fans were hoping for a cheeky shadow drop, with Advance Wars becoming available immediately after the Nintendo Direct was over, but that unfortunately didn’t happen – likely because it would’ve been overshadowed by the mighty Metroid Prime Remastered.

Metroid Prime Remastered, Pikmin 4, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom all made an appearance the Nintendo Direct presentation, in addition to Game Boy games being added to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. Not a bad showcase, all told. Now we just need the time to play all of these games.
