The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the upcoming sequel to Nintendo's acclaimed Breath of the Wild launch title for the Nintendo Switch. The latest game, set to release on May 12, 2023, will continue Link's adventures keeping many features of its predecessor.

Tears of the Kingdom will be an open-world game set in a revamped version of the Hyrule we saw in Breath of the Wild, with the addition of new locations including explorable sky islands floating high above the ground.

The game's story will start right after the events in Breath of the Wild, so it will be set within the same timeline in the overall Zelda story.

Nintendo has shown new features coming to the game and teased minor hints about it's story through trailers, and a ten-minute gameplay reveal. In Tears of the Kingdom, Link will have new abilities allowing him to fuse objects together to create more powerful weapons, ascend through ceilings, turn back time on objects, and craft vehicles, and more complex contraptions.

In the lead-up to the game's release, Nintendo has also launched a limited edition Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED model with an exclusive design themed around the latest Zelda title. The limited edition model will be supplemented by a Tears of the Kingdom-themed Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and a Switch carrying case which will be available on the game's launch date.
