Assassin’s Creed: Mirage contains sweet tribute to a fan’s deceased cat
Ubisoft recently celebrated the successful launch of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, a game taking the iconic series back to its roots. The entire title is an homage to the origins of the series, but pays tribute to more than that: In the newest iteration of the franchise, there is a cat you can pet, pick up, and snuggle with. This adorable gray-and-white feline has a real-life backstory.
It seems like the Assassin’s Creed: Mirage cat was inspired by one fan’s plea to the developers to add their friend’s recently deceased pet to the game. “Please add this cat whose face has the AC logo on his precious snout to the game,” this person wrote. “He belonged to my friend and he recently crossed the rainbow bridge.”
This adorable feline friend has a real-life backstory making his appearance all the sweeter.

Apparently, the developers saw this message and acted on it, because the cat in the game most certainly looks like the image of the cat sent in by this person: Coloration and patterns on both of the animals match each other clearly. It’s especially visible in the facial area, where a matching pair of spots in a darker gray can be seen right under the eyes.
Then there’s the characteristic mentioned by the user sending in the message – the triangular shape right above the cat’s nose, which in combination with the body part itself does have a semblance to the Assassin’s Creed series’ logo. This little fellow shows up at the Abbasiyah bureau of the Hidden Ones, so do stop to give him a pat on the hat next time you cross paths with him. Be aware, however, that he'll be on his way again after you snuggled with him one time.
It’s a surprisingly sweet thing to pay tribute to in a game that’s about sneakily murdering people in cold blood.
