Company of Heroes 3 console release date announced to be May 30, 2023
Company of Heroes 3 released earlier this year on PC and will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 30, 2023, Relic Entertainment and SEGA announced.
The real-time strategy game set in World War 2’s North African and Italian theaters contains two singleplayer campaigns – a classic series of missions with a linear narrative that sees you play as the German Afrikakorps as well as a new dynamic campaign in Italy, where you lead the country’s liberation from fascism in a mixed RTS and turn-based experience. Traditional multiplayer gameplay and skirmishes against the AI are included as well.
This will be the first time that the Company of Heroes series is available for console players. This edition of the title will feature a custom user interface for full controller support, allowing users to command their armies with their gamepads through a command wheel.
Company of Heroes 3’s tactical pause feature comes in quite handy for console players as well, enabling them to stop the action to give orders without any haste in singleplayer battles.
There won’t be any crossplay between console and PC editions of the game in multiplayer mode – while that could lead to longer queue times overall, it’s probably for the best: You really don’t want to compete with mouse and keyboard players in an RTS while playing with a controller, especially not in a micro-intensive game such as Company of Heroes 3, where every unit model counts.
