A group of bards is hosting the Final Fantasy XIV concert Eorzea Rescue in the MMO game to raise money and awareness for earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria (thanks, TheGamer). Members of the group Bards and Bands usually spend their time promoting several in-game bands and venues just for fun, but in the wake of two earthquakes that killed more than 50,000 people, they’re recruiting more than 30 bands to help raise money for Doctors Without Borders.

The concerts began on March 3, 2023, and will run through March 5, 2023, on the RPG's European and North American data centers.

“When the earthquake hit, I was currently in-game and speaking to Rese [another bard” U’whalon Sthah told TheGamer. “When Rese first mentioned an earthquake, our initial thoughts were one of fear, but neither of us believed it would be as serious as it turned out to be. We kept in contact throughout the night, and hearing about it firsthand from someone who was actively experiencing it, rather than from a third-party like a news source, made it really hit home for me.”

“I started thinking whether there was anything that I could do, and my thoughts turned to real-life events; bands doing charity songs or even concerts to raise money, such as Live Aid, and it made me think ‘Why can’t we do that?”

You can donate on Tiltify and keep up with the group on their Discord server. Even if attendees can’t donate money, Bards and Bands says that’s fine. They just want to raise awareness and spread the word to as many people as possible.
