Fortnite Battle Royale has been a third-person shooter since its inception, but as it’s skyrocketed in popularity, a lot of fans have wanted to change their perspective. If you’ve come from a game like Call of Duty Warzone, or even PUBG after it added a first-person mode, then it may be the way you feel most comfortable playing battle royale games.

If you’re one such person then you don’t have to wait much longer, as it has been confirmed by several leaks on Twitter that first-person mode is coming to Fortnite with the launch of Chapter 4 Season 2.

Not many details are known about it yet, just that it exists, so exactly how much control you’ll have over it is unclear. Things like field of view or custom cursor options would be very welcome, but given Fortnite doesn’t currently allow them in third-person, it’s unlikely they’ll be added for this new mode either.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is expected to launch this Thursday, on March 9, with the event to end the current season seemingly already underway, as this morning a giant portal appeared in the sky above the island.

Details about this season are slowly coming out. Titled simply “MEGA”, it seems to have a Japanese cyberpunk theme that takes inspiration from things like Neo-Tokyo, which would explain why the Attack on Titan protagonist Fortnite skin is coming next season too.
