If that isn’t the perfect fit: Max Verstappen, two-time F1 World Champion and passionate gamer, has landed a deal with EA Sports. Under the terms of the cooperation, the Dutchman will create content in titles across the publisher’s portfolio, bringing EA Sports aboard his racing car as a personal sponsor appearing on the chin section of his helmet.

“Whether it’s playing games with my friends or staying competitive when away from the track, EA Sports has always been a big part of my life,” comments Max Verstappen. “EA Sports is an icon for so many millions of fans, and I’m proud to represent them for the 2023 season.”

“Max is a tenacious competitor and true champion who shares a deep love of games and play,” said Andrea Hopelain, SVP of Brand for EA Sports & Racing. “As he races into Formula 1 history, we are excited to collaborate with him as one of the best athletes in the world to bring more fans together through our EA Sports experiences.”

Verstappen is known as a passionate gamer, so this partnership seems like a perfect fit for him.

Verstappen sometimes streams himself playing games, mostly racing simulations, on Twitch. He also takes part in competitive sim racing events like the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans, which he afterwards criticized as a “clown show” due to problems with the event. He even added a racing simulator to his jet so he can play while traveling.

The Red Bull Racing driver is also known to enjoy EA’s FIFA series with his former Red Bull team mate Alex Albon commenting that Verstappen sometimes opens FUT packs just before he has to get into the car for a session on track. Of all possible partnerships, this one seems like a pretty natural fit.

Formula 1 is set to return in March for its 2023 Season, while a new F1 game is likely to come out towards the middle of the year. Codemasters, the developer of the officially licensed F1 games, is owned by EA.
