The battle keeps raging on between Xbox and PlayStation, as the latter attempts to block Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In documents related to the acquisition, Microsoft argues that many PlayStation exclusives are "better quality" than Xbox exclusives.

PlayStation is currently pressuring watchdogs to end Microsoft's acquisition, arguing that owning Call of Duty could make Xbox the dominant platform. Microsoft has responded, saying the acquisition makes the company pro-competitive due to Sony's dominance.

"In addition to being the dominant console provider, Sony is also a powerful game publisher," Microsoft says. "Sony is roughly equivalent in size to Activision and nearly double the size of Microsoft's game publishing business.

"There were over 280 exclusive first- and third-party titles on PlayStation in 2021, nearly five times as many as on Xbox.

"Sony has more exclusive games than Microsoft, many of which are better quality."

The response goes on to namecheck titles such as Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, God of War, and Spider-Man, noting how they are among the best-selling games worldwide.

It also mentions Sony's third-party deals, which prevent games such as Final Fantasy 16 from launching on Xbox at the same time as PlayStation.

Whether Xbox's acquisition of Activision Blizzard will go through or not remains to be seen.
