Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has finally been blessed with a release date, and it’s a little later than was previously rumored. The PS5 exclusive game is set to be released on October 20, 2023, about a month later than the rumors suggested.

Spider-Man 2 will feature two playable Spider-Man protagonists, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, both of whom got their own games on the PS4 and PS5, as well as eventually PC. You won’t be able to switch between them freely during combat or story missions, but while exploring the world you can swap as you please.

Notably, this seems to be doing the Symbiote Suit story, with Peter Parker donning the familiar black suit as you’ll have seen in Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 movie. Both Kraven and Venom will be featured as villains in the game, and more villains are set to be introduced throughout the game too.

Venom will be a little different to what you’re expecting, though — Insomniac revealed during the Summer Game Fest show that Venom won’t be Eddy Brock. Who he’ll be is anyone’s guess, but those who’ve played Spider-Man will probably have a good idea.

It was previously rumored that Spider-Man 2 would be launching in September, with voice actors from the game and industry insiders all pointing to the September release date. It wasn’t meant to be, though, as it’s been officially confirmed for October.
