The Starfield release date has been a field of pure speculation for a long while now and even the smallest hints garnered attention. Bethesda has finally had enough and revealed that the sci-fi RPG would launch on September 6, 2023.

Initially planned to be released in 2022, the title already dubbed “Skyrim in space” was delayed into 2023. Bethesda maintained that the game would come out in the first half of 2023, but with another big Xbox game in Redfall having that time locked down it seems like Microsoft made the sensible decision to have Starfield out a bit later.

That should give the team around Todd Howard, who is the Game Director of Starfield, enough time to polish things and make it a great experience for everyone. We can also expect a lot more information about Starfield to come out before launch, as Bethesda has already announced a Starfield Direct showcase for June 11, 2023, which will contain a deep dive into the RPG.

A video from Bethesda covering the release date showed some brand-new impressions of the game already:

“We’re playing the game here all the time,” shared Howard in the announcement – and indeed, we see someone running around on an alien planet on a TV screen in the background. Howard stated that Starfield will contain a lot of things “you’d expect from us” as well as being a “unique experience.”

Starfield will be released on September 6, 2023, on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
