While The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is still set to be released for PC on October 24, 2023, the PS5 version has been delayed to December 5, 2023, when it will launch physically as well as digitally.

Developer Free Range Games and publisher North Beach Games stated: “We are taking this additional time to improve various aspects of the PS5 version, and to ensure we can deliver the highest possible quality for PlayStation gamers. Our teams apologize for the delay and are fully committed to delivering an amazing experience on PS5 this December.”

In Return to Moria, the dwarves strive to reclaim their ancient home.

In addition to the PC and PS5 versions, a Xbox Series X|S version for the game is slated for a release in the first half of 2024.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is a survival crafting game playable in single-player as well as co-op multiplayer modes. It’s set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, so after the events depicted in The Lord of the Rings. The game follows an expedition of dwarves, who have set themselves the task of reclaiming Moria from the hordes of orcs and cave trolls that overran it many years ago.

Up to eight players can adventure in the mines together, extracting resources from them to craft and rebuild the ancient dwarven kingdom with. Their characters will require food and sleep, will need to manage their body temperatures, and will need to pay attention to how much noise they make – remember the scene from Fellowship of the Ring, in which Pippin alarmed an entire army by carelessly throwing a corpse down a well.

On PC, the game is an Epic Games Store exclusive.
