Elden Ring: Carian Study Hall pedestal puzzle solution
The Carian Study Hall is a place you’ll need to pass through eventually on your Elden Ring journey. It’s connected to one of the Divine Towers, but not all of its secrets are accessible straight away. You can find it quite earlier on, and even get a few useful items from inside, but if you want to unlock everything it has to offer, you’ll need to solve a puzzle.
We’ll explain where to find Carian Study Hall in Elden Ring, what you can find there, and how to solve the puzzle to use the pedestal on the bottom floor.

Head directly east from the Academy of Raya Lucaria by passing between a break in the mountains, go around and then south and you’ll find the study hall by the cliffs – there’s a Site of Grace just inside for easy access in the future.

As you head in you’ll immediately see the pedestal, which simply tells you that “something” fits there, but we don’t need to worry about that just yet. Instead, go around the wall and use the lift.
Upon leaving the lift, if you pick up the item on your right you’ll immediately be assaulted by ghosts. These enemies are weak, but large in number, so just fight cautiously and you’ll take them down in no time. At the very top of the stairs though is a tougher opponent, Preceptor Miriam.

Miriam is an irritating and evasive opponent, which is why you need to be aggressive to take them down. She’ll keep fleeing up the tower and throwing obstacles your way to prevent you from progressing, but do your best to blast through and keep moving up. Her greatbow magic ability is an extremely strong attack, but its long charge time makes it the perfect opening to gain ground – just don’t get caught by the projectiles it fires.
Once you reach the top you’ll find the Carian Glintstone Staff in the main chamber, which is a great weapon for magic users, at which point you’ll find another lift that takes you up to a large balcony. Here you’ll face a bunch of ghosts and Miriam all at once – now is the time to finish her off before you move on.
All that’s left once you’ve disposed of Miriam is to climb up to the rafters (mind the rats) where you’ll find the Cerulean Seed Talisman.

Now, we return to the pedestal on the bottom floor. To activate this, you need to follow Ranni’s questline where she’ll give you the Carian Inverted Statue. As the name might suggest, this unlocks an inverted version of this location – a place that will eventually open up into the deadly, but vital Lake of Rot area.
